AC Resonant PD Test System

An AC resonant test system for AC withstand-voltage and partial-discharge testing of XLPE power cables and other high-voltage products. The adjustable-reactor configuration is selected around the capacitance of the test object.

  • AC withstand-voltage and partial-discharge testing.
  • Adjustable reactors to match test-object capacitance.
  • System selection by voltage, capacity and test duty.

AC resonant partial discharge test system for XLPE power cables

Technical Specifications

Selected catalogue data. Final specification is subject to the agreed configuration.
Reference parameterCatalogue value
Rated voltage range100–1500 kV and above, by configuration
Rated capacity range300–30000 kVA and above, by configuration
Partial discharge≤2 pC at 80% of rated test voltage
Rated-capacity duty1 hour on / 1 hour off; 3–6 cycles per day
Below 50% capacityContinuous operation, per catalogue

The voltage and capacity ranges describe the catalogue family, not a single universal system. PD performance includes the stated 80% rated-test-voltage condition; the test object, connections and site conditions must be defined for acceptance.

Information for Your Enquiry

Send the details you already have. These items help define the machine configuration and identify what still needs technical confirmation.

  1. Test object

Cable type, length, capacitance and required test voltage.

  2. Test duty

AC withstand duration, PD requirement, test sequence and applicable acceptance criteria.

  3. Test site

Indoor or outdoor location, power supply, test-area layout and shielding requirements.

  4. Site and support

Share the destination, available space, power supply and any installation or existing-machine support needs.

Questions About This Machine

Does the ≤2 pC figure apply at full rated voltage?

The catalogue specifies ≤2 pC at 80% of rated test voltage. It should not be restated without that condition.

Is kVA the same as impulse energy?

No. kVA is the AC system capacity unit here. The separate impulse test system specifies rated energy in kJ.
